Thoughts on The Desperate Hours
Who has not watched an Alfred Hitchcock film and not wanted to jump out of their seat with anticipation? I remember being so concerned about many of Hitchcock’s characters and so engrossed in their stories that I could not move for fright and anticipation.
America has a fascination with criminals and their crimes. One only need point to the popularity of the TV series Law and Order and all of its various spin-offs and imitations to make the case that we love stories about crime and the law. Perhaps they comfort us with the belief that justice will prevail. Although, in modern television, this is not always true.
