The popular musical and comedy review by Rotarians that usually takes place at Barter Theatre will raise much needed funds for local youth charities, including a backpack food program for school students, college scholarships, and a new Rotary Splash Pad planned at the Abingdon Sports Complex. The 2021 theme is “Frolics at the Moonlight: The Show Must Go On.”
The year’s show will include pre-recorded performances by guest musicians Carson Peters, Presley Barker, Dr. Mark Handy, Martha Spencer, and Jerry Castle. A mix of old and new recorded skits will be projected on the Moonlite screen as well as a virtual appearance by crowd favorites “Bert and Bart,” played for decades by Rotarians Fred Parker and Wayne Austin. “As always, our fake news team will offer their take on local events, public officials and celebrities. It promises to be a welcome distraction from more serious issues of the day and a cure for cabin fever,” said Frolics director Mark Graham.
