As Barter begins indoor performances, we want you to know that your safety is of utmost importance to us! With that in mind, here are the safety measures all patrons (including children) will be required to adhere to in order to join us indoors, in corroboration with standards set by the CDC. These policies and procedures are subject to change as we adapt to the ever changing health climate.

As always, we ask that if you have any symptoms of illness, you stay home and get well! In the case of illness or COVID-19 exposure, we will gladly reschedule you and/or exchange your ticket! This will be allowed up to the start time of each respective performance.

Safety Protocols for Gilliam Stage

Beginning on June 1st, 2022, masking will be OPTIONAL at Gilliam Stage ONLY.

Masks will be available in our lobby for any patron who wishes to wear one. All staff will still be required to wear a mask while indoors to protect ourselves and our community.

Safety Protocols for Smith Theatre

Performances at Smith Theatre will continue to require masks for all patrons.

After convening with our local health department and an epidemiologist* monitoring our region, science supports a “mask optional” model at Gilliam Stage, but not Smith Theatre. This is due to the venue being smaller, combined with the audience’s close proximity to the stage. So, for the safety of our performers, staff, and volunteers, performances at Smith Theatre will continue to require masks** for all patrons.

*An epidemiologist is an expert in the branch of medicine, which deals with the incidence, distribution, and possible control of diseases.
** Masks will be provided for those in need.

Enhanced Protocol Performances (EPPs)

In addition, many patrons have expressed a desire for the continued option to attend a performance with increased safety measures. Therefore, Enhanced Protocol Performances will still take place throughout our 2022 season. For these performances, all attending patrons must provide either a proof of vaccination OR a negative PCR compliant covid test, in addition to following any and all general safety measures described above. The EPP dates for each production will be announced at the start of its seasonal rep, when tickets for that production go on sale.
