You must sign up for these auditions. After you have read the following carefully, please sign up using the instructions below.
SEEKING:
- 2 youth female actors, doubled, for Young Anna. Actors must be between 6-14 years of age and under 5’0” tall
- 2 youth female actors, doubled, for Young Elsa. Actors must be between 6-14 years of age and under 5’0” tall
HOW TO PREPARE:
For the singing portion of the audition, please prepare the beginning part of “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” When you sign up for an audition, sheet music will be sent to you with the exact section to sing. Auditionees will sing individually. Some may be asked to sing more, which Barter’s Music Director will teach at the audition.
Some auditionees will be asked to stay for the dance portion of auditions and read a selection from the script.
REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals for Frozen begin on April 22nd, and the show begins previews on May 22nd and runs through August 17, 2025.
This role will be double cast, so young actors will not be called for every performance.
Rehearsals for the youth cast will mostly take place after school during the week, and throughout the day on Saturday and Sundays. Technical rehearsals are all day on May 20-23rd, and youth actors will need to be at the entirety of each tech day.
SIGNING UP TO AUDITION:
The audition will take place at Barter Theatre’s Gilliam Stage (127 W Main Street, Abingdon) on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00am-1:00pm. We ask that you arrive at 9:45am with a parent or guardian to fill out paperwork with contact information and all conflicts that you have between April 22nd and August 17, 2025.
There is a place to include any conflicts you have on the audition forms; we ask that you come ready to list all conflicts at the audition so we can take them into consideration while casting. The date and time of each performance is on our website at www.bartertheatre.com. Each child is paid a stipend for every week that they rehearse or perform the show.
