Virginia Highlands Festival
Robert Porterfield, founder of both the Virginia Highlands Festival and Barter Theatre, held the first Festival in 1949 with the purpose of preserving and celebrating the cultural heritage of this area. Since then the Festival has evolved into an expansive multi-arts, multi-location event, with 10 full days of arts, music, food, and fun. We celebrate and preserve our cultural heritage while importing talented artists and performers from around the world for creative inspiration, education, and the enjoyment of all. Join us on the Barter Square for our award-winning Arts & Crafts show. Take a walk down Main Street to experience the Colonial Trade Faire, live concerts, youth activities, and fine art and photography. Or hop in your car for a quick trip out to the Antiques Market, now located at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Create a collection, create a new playlist, create a story. In less than 10 days, you can create memories to last a lifetime at the Virginia Highlands Festival. For more information, visit vahighlandsfestival.org or call (276) 623-5266.
