Barter’s Black Stories Black Voices throws its 1st Community Event of 2024!

For years now, Barter has been committed to breaking down centuries-old barriers that have kept members of the BIPOC* community from being part of The Barter Family.

In the spirit of inclusivity and accessibility, our Black Stories Black Voices initiative is proud to offer $15 tickets to all BIPOC individuals during our 3pm matinee of HOME on Sunday, March 3rd. Join us at Barter’s Smith Theatre for a wonderful production, followed by a special BSBV Community Event: GROWING THE LEGACY.

Joining us for this special event is the co-founder of EDGE (Economic Development Greater East), Jason Tartt. With him we’ll discuss EDGE’s mission, the challenges it faces, the community it serves, and its hopes and dreams for the future of Black farming in this region. A Black West Virginian farmer, Jason knows the struggles Black farmers can have in Appalachia and brings awareness to the importance of planting and growing a deeper and richer understanding for others in the community.

We are excited to share this experience with you and look forward to seeing you where you belong – in the seats of the theater at Barter.
